What is Qigong?

“Qi”, or “Chi,” is the animating power that flows through all living things.

It’s what makes your heart beat effortlessly, your lungs breathe steadily, and your blood circulate. “Gong” means skill, or work. These two words put together, or “Qigong,” is the skill of working with your Qi (life force energy).

When Qi is flowing through your body seamlessly, that is when you feel your best physically and mentally (just like how you feel after a relaxing run, or a great workout at the gym).

On the other hand… How do you feel after sitting at a desk all day without moving? Irritable? Sluggish? Achy in your back and shoulders? This may be a sign that your Qi is blocked.

The root of physical and emotional pain is blocked Qi.

When your Qi isn’t flowing or circulating in your body, “Qi stagnation,” or Qi blockage can occur. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is the root cause of emotional and physical pain.

Qi can stagnate as a result of stress, excessive worrisome thoughts, muscular tension/tightness, or physical trauma.

This is where Qigong comes in.

Qigong is a combination of mindful movement, breathing techniques, and meditation that keeps your Qi flowing.

With a series of self-massage, stretches, meditation, and fluid movements that mimic nature (all in one workout!), Qigong helps unblock any Qi stagnation so you can decrease stress, relieve tension or tightness in your body, and feel better within minutes.

“I wasn't aware of Qigong until I attended Charmaine's sessions and I'm so glad I did. It helps me practice being mindful which helps me slow down and really enjoy the peacefulness of the moment. I always feel very relaxed and stress-free after a session.”
